After an eventful test day suffering from suspension issues, we were saved by the kind loan of a set of forks from fellow racer Ben Wylie to see us through the weekend.\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3eAfter a disappointing qualifying session, only good enough for row three on the grid, race one went well with a race long battle to finish 5th. Lap times tumbled as the weekend progressed and the final two races followed a similar theme of close racing around the 1 mile Leicestershire Circuit.\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3e5th again in race 1 on Sunday set up the final race of 2011 and one more chance for a podium place. The recent good run of form, consistently securing points in every race from the last four rounds has secured me 4th place in the Championship overall.\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3eAdmittedly after leading the Championship after round one and being in touch with the top three for the majority of the season, 4th overall was not the place in which I wanted to finish. Heavy rain in testing and a small error of judgement under braking left me sliding into the gravel just 4 hours before qualifying was due to commence.\u00a0All credit to the team and help from fellow competitors for getting me back on board in time for qualifying\x26#8230;.in the rain of course!\u00a0\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3eleaving it until late in the session, I found myself with some clear track in front of me, got my head down and put in a good lap securing 5th on the grid, ahead of all my current championship rivals.\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3eWith only two races and double points available for the latter staying on-board was as important as aiming for the podium. Race one, in the rain, was a little tricky with a lack of feel in the front end of the bike I settled in to 10th until the final lap. Several riders fell due to the deteriorating conditions and an oil spillage and I was fortunately credited with 4th place. Good points but I knew I would have to up my game for race two.\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3eA few minor set-up changes, a great start to the double points race and the chase for podium places began. With a good wet set-up I managed a solid few laps securing 8th place and a second row start for the Superpole race.\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3eI made a good start, with my sights fixed on a podium place and front row start for Sunday\x26#8217;s races. Dry weather and some great close racing went down the wire narrowly missing out on 4th place by 0.06secs!\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3eMore dry weather for Sunday\x26#8217;s races and a similar story of battling through the field to stay in touch with the front runners. Fast and fun and never short of action.\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3eA solid qualifying session with strong lap times secured me a second row start. Although a little disappointed to be in 5th, the superpole race would give me a chance to better that and aim for a front row start for the rest of the weekend.\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3eSuperpole race went to plan as a race-long battle commenced and the first podium of the weekend was secured.
